An interesting feature has been thrown around as a possibility for the new Samsung Galaxy SIII. Hello Android has posted an article, appropriately labeled as “rumor,” indicating the new Galaxy SIII will have built in “Inductive Charging.”
For those of you unfamiliar with the term, Inductive Charging allows you to charge your device without wires by simply placing it on a special mat. Most of these types of devices have been add-on’s that you can attach to your phone/device after purchase. And while this wouldn’t be the very first phone ever capable of inductive charging out of the box, it does (would) add something new. Allegedly, the phone would be able to begin charging without even touching the charging mat, around 1 to 2 meters away.
The whole thing seems pretty fancy, and I wouldn’t particularly put it past Samsung to try it. Now the last couple of questions remain: will we have to buy the mat separately, and does Samsung really have to tech to make this happen? Time will tell.
