As a well known “Computer Guy” in my circle of family and friends, I have become well acquainted with LogMeIn and how well it can help troubleshoot problems and walk people through certain tasks. I install it by default on all of my parent’s computers as talking them through things over the phone would lead me down a short road to insanity.
The idea of LogMeIn being able to remote control and view smartphones is a great idea. While I don’t anticipate my parents having a smartphone anytime soon (my Dad still has one of those “old timey flip phones”) I have plenty of friends who have them and are always asking me questions. So I can see where this could, once again, be a valuable tool to the “computer guys” of the world.
The article doesn’t go into much detail, so it’s not known if this will be available for consumers to use on other consumers. It also doesn’t really talk about what kind of information this may send back to HTC. For example, is your phone rooted, are you running a custom ROM, etc. With that in mind, maybe it isn’t such a good idea. We’ll have to wait for more details to find out for sure.
