Imagine my surprise when I somehow won a brand new Griffin Helo TC off one of those penny auction sites. My first time trying them and suddenly I had an awesome new toy. If you’re not familiar with these things, these are remote controlled helicopters that use your smartphone as the controller. Initially, it was primarily for Apple products, but they just recently released an Android app. Perfect timing….or so I thought.
I’d go into all the details about the graphics, how sensitive it is when flying, or how easy it is to use….but I can’t. You see, the app force closes immediately. I’ve tried several devices and none seem to work. The comments on the App Market seem to mirror my issues with almost nobody getting it to work. I’ve checked on Griffin’s website and even sent an email to their support with no response. There’s nothing on the app that indicates minimum OS version requirements, and since I’m running Android 4.0, I can’t help but wonder if that’s the problem. But alas, there’s not much to go on. At this point, it’s a severe disappointment, and I’m contemplating just returning the Helo altogether. *crosses arms and pouts in disgust*
