Big Day for ASUS Prime Owners

ASUS Transformer Prime
Bootloader Unlock tool released

It was a big day for anyone who happens to own an ASUS Transformer Prime.  ASUS made good on their promise to provide a bootloader unlock tool.  Prime owners around the web rejoice!  Of course, this comes with the caveat that it will immediately void your warranty.  So if you are having any problems with your Prime (GPS, WiFi, screen bleed, etc.) then you might want to wait before you take the unlock leap.  You can get the bootloader unlock tool directly from ASUS Support here.

Hot on the heels of the bootloader unlock tool, the good people at put together and released a Clockworkmod image for the Transformer Prime.  For those that aren’t familiar with Clockworkmod, it will allow you to boot into a recovery tool and allow all kinds of advanced options, such as backups and restores, data wipes, davlik cache wipes, etc.  Initially, you were required to use adb and a few brief commands to install, but XDA member -Viperboy- has added this option to his ViperMOD Primetime tool.  This will allow for a relatively easy one-click installation.  You can find the Clockworkmod download here or here and the ViperMOD Primetime tool here. Always nice work from the folks at XDA.

Finally, before anyone could catch their breathe, news has come out that a release of Cyanogenmod 9 for the Transformer Prime is imminent.  A quick check of the XDA Dev forum for the Prime shows one ROM, Virtuous Prime beta, has already landed.  Things are going to get pretty exciting over the next few weeks for Transformer Prime owners.
